5SILVER CLAY WORKSHOPS
Silver Clay Beginners Workshop This is a one day beginners course where you will learn how to make your own silver clay jewellery. You will be taught about using silver clay and produce three finished pieces using various techniques. No previous experience is required. The class runs from 9.30am to 5.00pm with a break for lunch. All materials will be supplied but if you require extra clay or gems you can buy more on the day. For dates, see Events page. Cost £95. Taster Silver Clay Workshop This is a three hour beginners course where you will learn how to make your own silver clay jewellery. You will be taught about using silver clay and produce two finished pieces using various techniques. No previous experience is required. The class runs from 10.00am-1.00pm or 2.00pm-5.00pm. All materials will be supplied but if you require extra clay you can buy more on the day. Cost £50. 6 week Evening Metal Clay Workshop This course is aimed at the novice student and will teach you a lot of the basic techniques needed for metal clay. Once you have done this course or similar, you can go on to do more advanced courses eg creating a hollow piece with a glass cabochon and create elements to embellish it or creating your own set of pan pipes. Each week you will be asked to think about a design for the following week, based on the schedule and I will go through this on the first week. Week 1 - This will be a quick refresher on silver clay and making a pair of stud earrings. This will teach you how to use an embeddable silver finding. Week 2 - Using a glass cabochon in a pendant. This will teach you how to allow for shrinkage with glass and how to secure glass in your design. Week 3 - Making a mould and using it to create a pair of earrings or pendant. Week 4 - Using copper clay to make a pendant. Week 5 - Using syringe to create an openwork or filigree pendant or earrings and setting a gemstone in it. Week 6 - Finishing everything off. If your are finished you can choose to make something incorporating some of the techniques you’ve learned. All materials required to make the pieces are included. Should you wish to make bigger or more pieces, time allowing, you can purchase more materials during your workshop. Cost £160 Sea Glass Workshop In this workshop you will learn how to use your sea glass finds to make some beautiful and personal jewellery. This is an intermediate level class. You will learn how to drill your sea glass, make a bezel and set a piece of sea glass and incorporating some silver clay techniques. You will be given all necessary materials to make 2 or three pieces. If you have your own sea glass, you can bring it along or you can choose from the sea glass in the studio. The class runs from 9.30am to 5.00pm with a break for lunch. There will be refreshments and cake available but please remember to bring a lunch with you. Cost £75. Ring Workshop In this workshop you will learn how to make various types of rings using silver clay. It is aimed at students with previous knowledge of working with silver clay. You will be shown how to size your ring, allowing for shrinkage, texturing, shaping and joining the clay. You will be given sufficient Silver Clay to make two different styles of rings and all necessary materials will be supplied. If you have a texture or tools you would like to use please bring them along but this is not a requirement for the workshop. The class runs from 9.30am to 5.00pm with a break for lunch. There will be refreshments and cake available but please remember to bring a lunch with you. Cost £125. Beads Workshop This workshop covers making beads using silver clay with instruction on various techniques. It is aimed at students with previous knowledge of working with silver clay. You will be shown how to make your beads, embellish and fire them. You will be given sufficient Silver Clay to make three different types of beads and all necessary materials will be supplied. If you have a texture or tools you would like to use please bring them along but this is not a requirement for the workshop. The class runs from 9.30am to 5.00pm with a break for lunch. There will be refreshments and cake available but please remember to bring a lunch with you. Beads you can make in this workshop include: - Lentil beads - Triangle wrap beads (croissant beads) - Hollow beads using syringe and cork clay or another suitable base. Cost £125. Nature Captured in Silver We will use various elements from nature e.g. leaves, shells, seed heads and other favourite or meaningful items and make them into lovely jewellery by either painting on silver paste or making a mould. Bring your own elements or choose from the variety available in the studio or garden. No previous experience is required for this workshop. All materials will be supplied but if you require extra clay you can buy more on the day. Cost £130 Silver Clay & Glass Workshop This is a one day course where you will learn how to include glass cabochons in silver clay jewellery and make two beautiful pendants using different techniques to encapsulate your dichroic glass. Some experience of using metal clay would be beneficial. The class runs from 9.30am to 5.00pm with a break for lunch. All materials will be supplied but if you require extra clay or glass cabochons you can buy more on the day. Cost £130. SPECIAL OCCASION WORKSHOPS Christmas Creative workshop Come along and make some Christmas jewellery as gifts or to get you in the Christmas spirit. This is a lovely opportunity to make some very personalised gifts for the special people in your life. You will be shown how to make your jewellery but if you have previous experience of using silver clay you can do your own designs, with help if you need it. Materials are not included in the price as it will depend on what you choose to make. Cost £60. Christmas Glass Decorations workshop Come along and make some Christmas Glass decorations as gifts or to get you in the Christmas spirit. Using pieces of glass, make a Christmas tree, snowflake or wreath hanging. This is a half day workshop, either 10am-1pm or 2pm-5pm. All materials are included. Cost £60. Keepsake Workshop The wedding, anniversary or other special occasion may be over, but by taking something from a bouquet and using silver clay, you can turn it into a piece of silver jewellery as a wonderful memento that lasts forever. Take a leaf, petal or flower head and use silver clay paste or make a mould to transform them into amazing silver jewellery. All materials for this workshop will be provided. Cost £100. Hen Parties - Silver Charms How about arranging a workshop where you can make a special charm for the bride-to-be and when they are finished they will all be put on a bracelet making a very special gift. Everyone will make one or two charms for themselves, depending on size. Cost £100. Wedding workshop - Silver Rings Why not arrange a very special workshop for the bride and groom to come and make their own rings? You will be shown how to use the silver clay to make a ring and by the end of the workshop you will go home with something very special. Cost £125. OTHER WORKSHOPS Jewellery This is a one day workshop where you learn the basics of making jewellery alongside the tools and techniques required. You will learn how to make charms to create a bracelet or earrings. No previous experience is required. The class runs from 9.30am to 4.00pm with a break for lunch. All materials will be supplied. Cost £50. Felting This is a one day workshop, learning the basic techniques of wet felting. You will learn how to make a felted flower using various colours to produce a corsage or a cobweb scarf with some embellishments. No previous experience required. The class runs from 10.00am to 4.30pm with a break for lunch. All materials will be supplied. Cost £50. Glass Beads for Jewellery This is a one day workshop as an introduction to using glass to make beads and pendants for jewellery. You will find out about using plain glass and dichroic glass (glass containing metal oxides) and how to cut and fuse it to produce a few pieces to take away with you. The class runs from 9.30am to 4.00pm with a break for lunch. All materials will be supplied. Cost £50. Group Bookings If you are booking a group of 4 or more, please contact me for rates and offers. Hosting a Workshop If you would like to host a workshop get in touch and we can see what we can arrange. The host gets their tuition for 50% as long as there are a minimum of 4 people, excluding the host. Travel is free within a 20 mile radius. Studio time If you would like to come along and use the studio and all the facilities, equipment etc, just get in touch to arrange a time. The studio will be available on Monday mornings from 10.00am - 1.00pm. for a studio fee, other times can be arranged on request. You can also arrange to use the kiln, kiln fee applies depending on how much you need fired. Further Information Other workshops are available.
